Emmanuel Church Leadership - Biography

Peter Nordlund

Associate Pastor

Peter Erik Nordlund began working with Johnstown's college and career young adults in1998 and is now an Associate Pastor.  In preparation for his work as a young adult pastor, Peter attended the Torchbearer Bible School in Holsby Brunn, Sweden, and the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Illinois.  He received a Bachelor of Arts from Moody in Missions, with an emphasis on the Bible.  Peter comes to Johnstown after working at the Torchbearer Bible School from 1995-1998, the Overlake Christian Church in Seattle, Washington from 1990-1991, and the Woodway First Baptist Church in Waco, Texas from 1989-1990.  Peter and his wife, Krista, are the parents of three children, Siri, Tobi, and Trygve.

Obedience is a word frequently heard out of Peter's mouth, so it is no surprise that his motivation to be in ministry comes from the desire to be obedient.  He knew the ministry is what God desired for his life, and received confirmation from others to support that.  One of his life verses is Revelation 3:15-21.  Verse 17 is "You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.'  But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked."  To Peter, this means "Everything I have is from Him.  I need to realize that I am nothing so He can be everything."  Another verse that has impacted his life is John 12:28, where Jesus calls out "'Father, glorify your name!'  Then a voice came from heaven, 'I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.'"  That is why Peter is in the ministry...so that the Father can glorify His name through Peter's life.
